Dream Duet: Abby Suriya and Mpongo Love

 

This is women's history month and I want to focus on Congolese women singers that they have yet to sing together or the ones that should have sung together. I got two Congolese ladies that I selected for you guys for today. 

Cette chanteuse est une individue qui participait dans beaucoup de boulots Congolais. Cette chanteuse qui etait une proche musicale du saxophoniste Empompo Loway. Cette chanteuse chantait avec beaucoup de vedettes Congolaises. Cette chanteuse qui est la mere de chanteuse Sandra. Qui sont les chanteuses que je parle? 

The subjects today are Abby Suriya and the late Mpongo Love. The latter is mother to Sandra Mpongo who is also a singer herself. I actually think if Mpongo had lived longer, I believed that she would have sung with a woman like Abby Suriya. That would have the good idea of them singing together. These two female singers are like opposites attract but it is perfect for us. Abby Suriya is a romantic singer but more expressive in her tone. Mpongo Love is also a romantic singer but softer in her tone. This would be a great musical match. Mpongo's voice a female version of Ntesa in a sense where her voice is very jolly. Abby Suriya's voice is a female version of combinations of Shimita, Solo Sita and Carlyto whom she sang with in the past. 

One reason that they would have and should have sung together would because they both worked with former soccer legend Mayaula Mayoni. They had the luxuries to work with him. Abby appeared on Mayaula Mayoni's Ousmane Bakyoko and Bikini. Mpongo got her name going on Mayoni's song Ndaya which she sang with saxophonist Empompo Loway. 

Speaking on Ndaya. That would be one of the songs that would have been perfect for Abby Suriya and Mpongo Love. Mpongo singing high with Abby singing low. There is another song that would have been perfect. It is also from Mayaula Mayoni. The song he did for Tshala Muana. It is called Nasi Mobali.

Ces chansons donnent le beau cadeau pour les fanatiques qui aiment la groupe Le Grand Zaiko Wawa. Defao, Adamo et Shimita sont trois chanteurs exceptionnels. Ces hommes sont venus du groupe Grand Zaiko Wawa. Je pense que ces hommes ont fait leur marque dans la musique congolaise. Soukous c'est leur force de la vie. Ils chantent bien et ils ont su de donner leurs voix pour leurs vies. 

Ces chansons sont le mieux pour leurs voix. Penser de la chanson Tika Makanisi. Je sais que cette chanson donnerait une belle harmonie parce qu'Adamo donnerait un beau moment avec sa voix qu'il est haut. 

Finalement, je sais que les fans du Grand Zaiko seraient heureux comme ils chanteriont ces chansons en nouvelle manière. Nous sentirons un nouveau chemin comment chanter et comment danser. 

Dream Trio: Adam Ekula, Defao, Shimita

This dream trio should have been in Grand Zaiko and it is so unfortunate that it never happened in Grand Zaiko. This dream trio should have came and got together to make great melodies as three singers. 

I am speaking of three former members of Grand Zaiko who were Adamo Ekula, Defao and Shimita. These men are important in discussion of Generation Zaiko. Defao and Shimita are princes of Soukous music while Adamo was the milk of singing. His vocals are too much for me. 

I think these men should have a trio song on a Pepe Felly album. Here is why? Because these are the men that managed to impress people like Nyoka Longo. They were his singers. I wish Pepe Felly would have gotten these men to work together on a beautiful song where their voices would have molded well together. 

After all, Shimita and Defao sounded together when they sang together in Grand Zaiko. Also they did two songs on Dally Kimoko's solo album
Just listen how good they sounded together

More importantly look at Adamo Ekula and Shimita in this song, Ma Bibi. Shimita and Adamo connected so well that other singers had to put in their place

BTW Shimita loved this song of Adamo that he decided to remix 2014 with the voices of Djo Nickel (Nyoka Longo copycat) and Desouza Santu as Djeffar Lukombo of Afrisa.

Finally, I got something from Adamo Ekula himself. I asked him if he had sung with Defao, and he said yes and then he got me this song that he did with Defao and it sounds amazing.

Oh my it sounds so good. I mean too good. Because these two men were on point with their voices. It reminds of Nyboma and Pepe Kalle. Sadly only two songs contain voices of Adamo Ekula and Defao together. They should have done more music together. They would have been a better duo than Nyboma and Pepe Kalle. Adamo would be the Nyboma type and Defao would be the Pepe Kalle type. BTW Defao sounds similar to Pepe Kalle, so it is no surprise there in that sense. 

Fortunately these men are alive. I am crossing my fingers for a Grand Zaiko reunion with only these men and no else. No Djeffar Lukombo nor Djo Nickel. I want only Defao alongside Adamo Ekula and Shimita. 

Shimita's visit to Minnesota- 6th degree of connection

During the summer, I was spending more time on Facebook. Because I have gotten more popularity and I am trying to keep my charge of things there. While this was happening, I bumped into a video that involved Shimita. 

Former Soukous Star singer Shimita came to my state of Minnesota. 


Shimita came to visit a friend who was a former president of the Congolese Club in Minnesota name JD Lokenye. I actually saw him in a recent Congolese party held in Fridley, Minnesota. It was around July 4, 2015. He was president from 2004 to 2012. I assume that Lokenye is also a music producer. Lokenye and Shimita are friends according to Shimita himself. Actually it was Shimita who told me that he came to Minnesota. But it was only a visit and a event with Lokenye and no concert was planned. Now there is a reason for Shimita to come as well which led to my turning point that I am going to as well.

Like the two previous, it is about a woman. This is different twist however. 

Shimita actually has about 5, 6 or 7 siblings. Shimita actually lives in Seattle, Washington. That happens to be where former Afrisa singer Wawali Bowane lives as well. Interesting point. 

He has a younger sister that happens to live in Minnesota which I live as well as I mentioned already as well as former president of Congolese club JD Lokenye. I assume she and Lokenye are like best friends and Shimita keeps in close tabs with them as well. 

This is an interesting time. I will see what the future. Maybe at some point, I can see Shimita, or JD Lokenye or even Shimita's sister. 

Wait and see. Life continues. 

Was Pamelo Mounka's last album good or not?

OK now I am back doing what I do best, I am going to start by asking one important question: WAS PAMELO MONUK'A'S LAST ALBUM GOOD OR NOT?

Why do I ask this question, well because I have seen people make fun of this album saying it is completely crap or it is a masterpiece or belongs to the garbage can. Well here what I think of the final album of Pamelo Mounka.

PAMELO MOUNKA 1990 work= THE COMEBACK

I say this album is a great masterpiece. Yep I said it is a masterpiece. Now why do I say that. Because there are some unqiue songs from this album. Now obviously the guitars stink and the guitars don't bring anything special but the vocals are on top notch especially from Pamelo himself.

The two songs I really like from this album is Shuna and Marie-Line M'A Dit. These two songs, you see some unique singing of Pamelo Mounka. Do not forget that you got some unique characters themselves on this album like Shimita and Ballou Canta. I mean that equals gold in the songs and they mean some valuable stuff. Also Shuna, Pamelo's poetic voice fitted in the soukous song itself. That is what I call genius.

So you got my answer: The album was good.
